In our Community

During the 35 years of this club the Rotary Club of Howrah has developed a number of local projects.

Amongst them a Barbecue at Cremorne, a pathway at Howrah and camps for needy youngsters.

More recently we have built a shelter for the Orana Girl Guide Camp and a Barbecue Rotunda at Wentworth Park.

Amongst our newer project is reconstruction of the Tranmere Foreshore Walkway and the Rotuma Playground at Tranmere

Supporting the Aged

As well as providing financial support for a number of initiatives in aged care we have supported the EastSide Care Home and during the years have given resident's outings, provided firewood and equipment.

Supporting Young People

The Rotary Club of Howrah sees support for young people as an important aspect of our community service.

We seek to encourage participation from schools in our immediate area, particularly Clarence High Rokeby High School, Emmanual Christian School and Rosny College

Each year we present awards at ten local primary and secondary schools and present awards in Language skills and Sports achievement at Rosny College.

International Projects

  • We have collected library books for Kar Kar island, which is about 70 kilometres north of Madang in Papua New Guinea. It has secondary college and 10 feeder primary schools.
  • Each year we donate to a orphanage in Indonesia,
  • Rotary Club of San Pablo, Phillipines is supported in a project to deliver dictionaries to all grade 3 children.
